About me.

Meet Laura…

The Beginning

Born into a family of entrepreneurs, I was taught to be curious, think outside the box, and cultivate resiliency.

“What do you think of that store sign?” my mom would ask when I was 7, which led to a discussion of ideas on how effective the signage was and how it could be better at attracting customers.

When I was 16, my father hired me to do some filing for his company. After filing for about an hour, I asked questions about the project which started him thinking. He then asked me to hold off. The following day after school, he handed me a $100 check with the memo note, “consultant fee” and said I didn’t need to finish the filing as my question caused him to rethink the project. It was a the confidence boost that encouraged me to always think creatively and to always ask questions.

Creative Spirit

With a creative spirit, I dove into graphic design, arts, and communications in college and landed my first job at a publishing company designing book covers.

Soon I would become a mother and I took that creative spirit into parenthood. I observed skilled parents with more experience than me and grew into my own parenting style. Always watching, listening, and growing, I wanted to take what I learned and help others who may have felt as unequipped as I did when I began my parenting journey.

Babies & More

I became a La Leche League Leader, doula, lactation educator, childbirth educator, prenatal counselor, the list seemed to go on and on. I had a birth and parenting coaching business for 14 years and helped lead my county in California to 3rd place in duration rates for lactation.

The demand for support in the birth and lactation field was an extremely high and I gave up a lot of holidays and family time to help people in labor and those with new babies who needed lactation support.

Marketing

After I closed my birthing business I launched a new career in the marketing field and traveled the country marketing art products as a brand manager. I worked for a nonprofit as Development Director building community relationships, and then became a Marketing Director.

Personal Transformation

Along the way, there were relationships and struggles, marriages and divorces, injuries and recoveries. So on the side, I went from therapist to therapist and eventually to life coaching where I began learning about boundaries, that’s when my life began to transform.

Collaborative Communication & Boundaries

As I learned to implement change in my life, I also became a certified Skills for Change, Collaborative Communication, and Boundaries Trainer / Practitioner. I taught many classes for many years helping others to contend with making their lives better by moving from a depleting lifestyle to one that harnessed their true authentic power.

Boundaries Trainer

I trained nonprofits how to have healthy boundaries in the workplace. I taught artists at Makerspaces how to blend creative passion with boundaries to prevent burnout, and I taught birth professionals the same. I taught struggling singles how to navigate the dating scene and mothers how to set boundaries with their children.

Author

I wrote my journey down in a book after so many people asked, and now I am excited to share this information with people on a grander scale.

My new virtual learning series is exactly what clients have been asking for, I hope to see you in the classroom.

Skills for Change Coaching is helpful because we look at what's happening, specific transaction by specific transaction. When we know what we want to change, we can identify what's in the way (power), and what we need to practice (embodiment).
